
Virginia Intermont College – Equine Studer
Virginia Intermont College is located in Bristol, Virginia, and is one of only a few schools in the nation accredited school to offer a four-year degree in Equine Studies. The equine program will begin by developing the student's skills through education the mechanisms riding horse and then teaching the proper riding position.
Virginia Intermont College offers students a very hands- on experience and emphasizes the knowledge of riding and horse care throughout the development of students driving skills. Students will the opportunity to participate in training, instruction, horse show management and many other aspects of the horse industry.
The school focuses on riding and offers English classes in dressage, eventing, horse riding, hunting and bridges and jumping. The curriculum places a great deal time in developing students' skills to prepare them for any career in the equine industry and facilitates a lot of riding time as well.
Graduates leave the program with a vast knowledge of riding and be able to pursue a career in any field of the equine industry.
You do not have to own your own horse while earning his degree because the school has 65 horses available for students to walk, however, if you own your own horse, you can bring to school and ride in it during the riding classes, as long as the horse is trained by the skill level class that is mounted in.
We strongly recommend that you make riding during some of the other classes because assemble a variety of different horses corridor will create a more versatile and specialized. If you choose to bring your own horse, you must make arrangements with the shipping facility as soon as possible as the equestrian center offers horse boarding only on a first come, first serve basis for $ 3,900 per academic year.

While attending Virginia Intermont College, students have the opportunity to compete in horse shows by the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
Members regularly compete in eight events Against Wake Forest University, Duke University, North Carolina State University and eight other universities. In addition to the eight regular programs, members can also compete in regional and national. The teams have accumulated several IHSA regional championships and reserve championships.
Students can also join the Dressage Intercollegiate-Interscholastic Association (IDA). This is a national organization that has competence in each of the different regions is divided into. The purpose of IDA is to introduce students in dressage and develop their skills through competitions.
The campus also contains various Cup competitions campus during throughout the year and there is also the annual Horse Trials Virginia Intermont-rated horse show in Lexington, Virginia Horse Center.
