U.S. Capitol sources of facts and trivia?
In his book "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown mentions a few interesting tidbits of trivia and facts surrounding the U.S. Capitol Hill (I'm only in chapter 16). These range from blood on the stairs of the horses stuffed in sealed chambers the ghosts that roam the halls. However, when I tried to find out more information on this my web searches turned up virtually zero. I know has to be more information out there (especially since Dan Brown only mentioned three ghosts when reports claim more than 10 existing). Does anyone know where to find more information and little known trivia facts about the Capitol. I care at all that the senators do not bathe every second Tuesday of the month ending y, but I have a curiosity about the mysteries, the strange and little known elements hidden messages. trivia additional buildings of interest in DC are also welcome.
Try your search backward, architects try to incorporate the "symbolism" all the time. You need to start your search from the architect and then go to the building. Try the book "The Secret Architecture of Nation's Capital: The Masons and the building of Washington, DC" by David Ovason. This will take in the direction of the sources that will show what the designers are trying to incorporate aesthetics. Do a search on Amazon for the book, and suggests others who are "like" mentality. Then search Masons, learn the symbols and know when you see them. Finally, I would try a search of folklore in DC, Capitol building, etc. For the past stories from generation to generation that may have been associated in their searches construction. You have to understand the people living in the time, what they believed in, what I would remember, what you want to hide. You have to think in terms to see, recognize and understand the symbols and mysteries ….. I love the way Dan Brown does this in all his books-I am a big fan. But you have to remember, who is writing fiction. Party or "everywhere" are total fabrication of the purposes of entertainment.
