What's the big deal with paintings of art?
Not long ago the British government put money into the pot to raise £ 50 million to maintain a painting on the shores of the United Kingdom. A painting of a white horse has just been bought by two million pounds and is exhibited in the south of England. Last year there a dispute between the UK and Russia over some paintings of Russia. What is the problem? For me, being what they are …. paintings.
It is very possible that they have historical political interest, social or cultural. . . and that is why a government is unwilling to let go.
